I’m Losing Weight Too Fast & It’s Making Me Nervous (PHOTOS)

Losing weight in 2013: week 4The Stir's Emily Abbate is working toward her 2013 resolution to lose weight and get fit. Check back every week to follow along on her journey, read tips and tricks that work for her, and join in to share your hard work in the comments section. Because, hey, losing weight is always easier when you have your friends supporting you.

I need to be honest with you guys. I'm not happy about how much weight I lost this week. Not because it's not enough, but because it's too much. For someone who wanted to lose 10 pounds, I feel like I'm, well, cheating the system. This week I lost three pounds, making my total weight loss at 9.8 pounds. That's 0.2 pounds under my goal, and I feel uncomfortable.

To be honest: yesterday morning when I stepped on the scale, I did it at 11 a.m. after running and doing a lifting circuit at the gym on my day off. Regardless, though, the rate that I'm dropping pounds ... there's no way I'm gonna keep them off.

I've been here before, and I remember being really happy. Everyone has a number in their head that's a perfect weight. For me, my ideal weight is smack dab in the middle of the healthy range of BMI for my 5' 5'' height. That's exactly why so many years ago, I chose it and made such an effort toward getting there.

Being here now, though, I feel ambushed. I feel like I'm not ready. But like, I'm eating. I'm eating a lot! I feel scared that I'm going to mess this up, and frankly, I don't want to just gain weight back because I've been going so hard, so to speak.

I'm sure there are things going on in my life that are affecting my high numbers. Stress, for sure. Ridiculously cold weather that makes me not just want to go to the gym and stay for a measly half hour like I used to. I've been so overly scheduled lately that I'm snacking more, and I'm learning that the more I do that, with the right snacks, the better that is for my metabolism.

Factors aside ... the weight loss is happening. Different weights look different on everyone. Now, this week's photo:

Don't get me wrong. I'm thankful and I've been dedicated and I will continue to be. I just know that when it comes down to it, slow, gradual weight loss is safer, and will last longer. I'll be interested to see what happens next week.

I actually kinda get this, although for me it has more to do with milk supply because I'm nursing. I don't want to lose too much weight because then my milk supply goes down. I think you're doing great, I wouldn't stress about the fast weightloss. Figure out what it's like to maintain, and then tell us about it!

So begins the life long challenge of maintaince. It is never ending the cycle of losing and maintaining. Try and not let the scale decitate your level of happiness, and just go with how you feel. Otherwise, you will be playing this game forever. Good luck to you.

You are probably losing weight fast because you look like you are not even overweight at all

Is this a fucking joke? She's all of what... 115 pounds. Get a grip. Show me someone who actually NEEDS to lose weight post something like this and I'll post a comment about the actual content of the article. Ridiculous.

Why are you doing a motivating weight loss article with a woman that doesn't need to lose weight? I'm not overweight, but I find it insensitive to put a woman that is fit and trim, and have her try to relate to other women that need to lose many, and really then you have her complaining that she's lost to much weight?

BeckyP: I kind of have to agree with you, I hate seeing skinny people that have never had a REAL weight problem complain about 10 lbs. I have been OBESE since the age of FIVE! I'm now almost 30 and although I'm not really that overweight anymore, I still struggle on a daily basis to keep the weight I lost off. 10 lbs is nothing. I've literally taken a shit before and lost 5 lbs... I was a little obsessive at one point with weighing myself far too much!

Sometimes i think she is only doing this to show us how skinny she is

Wow. You ladies sure are bitter! You're literally complaining because she didn't feel happy/healthy at the weight she was? So you're bashing her because she's not "fat enough"??? GROW UP! Just like her, all I need to lose is 10lbs and yes, even on someone that "tiny" it makes a huge difference! I'm at 120 and 5'0, I want to get back to a healthy weight for my body!!

She's not even skinny. She looks like 140lbs. A little flabby not toned.

I have never understood the whole "diet" thing, I mean, if you just eat good all the time, there is no need for a diet. You look great though, just eat healthy, be active, and be happy!
