Victoria Beckham & Jennifer Aniston's Diet Secret Is So Easy Everyone Should Try It

victoria beckhamDespite being thin as a rail, Victoria Beckham is always on one diet or another, so I guess it should come as no surprise that Posh Spice was recently tweeting about her affinity for a new one Gwyneth Paltrow, Kirsten Dunst, and Jennifer Aniston have supposedly also done. And believe it or not, it's not that crazy.

The diet, called the Honestly Healthy Alkaline Program, is said to involve eating mostly foods that are alkaline (as opposed to acidic), so as to keep the body's pH between 7.35 and 7.45. As a result, the plan is supposed to not only promote weight loss but also help keep inflammation and its related health issues like headaches, bloating, heart disease, muscle pain and insomnia at bay. Interesting!

There is quite a bit of science that supports eating more alkaline for a variety of reasons. But what kills me about this is that it's of course A DIET. And the way it sounds like Posh and her Hollywood pals are doing it sounds like a very expensive, very intense diet.

That's because this particular program prohibits "very acid-forming" foods like pasta, wheat, beans, all dairy products, meat fish and shellfish. Oh, and ... tea, coffee, sugar, soda, and booze. So basically you eat suuuuper-clean, specially prepared foods like artichoke and basil pizza, raw buckwheat and cinnamon granola, mung bean curry and sweet-potato chocolate brownies.

Wow. Don't get me wrong -- that all actually sounds delish to me, but I'm not sure it's realistic for someone who isn't an A-lister with an unlimited bank account to eat this way. Not to mention that they probably all have their personal chefs shopping and cooking up these special meals for them. (Seriously, I went looking for mung beans once ... not easy!)

Ultimately, though, it seems like the crux of the program -- steering toward more alkaline-forming foods and away from the acidic ones -- is completely worthwhile. And not that difficult to weave into a healthy eating regimen in a less extreme way. But a strict, unrealistic Gwynnie Paltrow-style DIET with a laundry list of "NO"s attached? No thanks!
