Brandi Glanville is having a rough week, and for the first time in a long time, it has nothing to do with ex-husband's wife LeAnn Rimes. After complaining of chest pain and nausea, the Real Housewife was brought to the hospital back in November where it was discovered that she had a benign tumor. Well, turns out surgery to get rid of the tumor is scheduled for this coming Wednesday. The star tweeted that it's been making her ill, but not to worry because the tumor isn't the "big C."
Even though it's benign, tumors can be scary no matter what. I'm sure it's unsettling for both Brandi and her family. Thinking about this whole thing gives me chills. I can't help but wonder, do I have anything to worry about? Now I'm starting to think it's time to make sure I get to that annual checkup.
OK, my personal health concerns aside, let's talk about why tumors form in the first place. There are a few different reasons why tumors may grow ranging from local injuries, inflammation, infection, and diet to stress or genetics. Abnormal growths in your body, tumors consist of old cells that don't die when they should and new cells that form when you don't need them, creating a large mass. And whereas most of the time these tumors don't need treatment and doctors simply watch the area to make sure they don't cause a problem, sometimes like in Brandi's case, they do.
Of course, the goal is to get rid of the hazardous lump without affecting the surrounding areas. It's a generally simple procedure that Brandi doesn't need to be too too worried about. Hopefully soon, she'll be fully recovered, feeling less "ill," and up to her old ways. My thoughts are with the reality star this week.
Have you ever had a tumor? Was it scary for you and your family?
