Anne Hathaway's Weight Obsession Is Something We Can Relate To

Here she is, this accomplished actress with an amazing new movie coming out (Les Mis!), just married to a super-nice guy she dated for four whole years. And she's still freaking out about her body.

Anne is on the cover of Glamour this month -- no pressure, hahaha! -- and she admits that "I still feel the stress over 'Am I thin enough? Am I too thin? Is my body the right shape?'"

Stars: They're just as insecure about their bodies as we are. SIGH. Maybe even more so? At what point do we ever accept ourselves?

I'm amazed at how candid Anne is about how vulnerable being in the public eye makes her feel. She says, "There's an obsessive quality to it that I thought I would've grown out of by now. It's an ongoing source of shame for me." Oh man, of all the people who I think deserves to be unburdened from this obsession, Anne surely does. And not because she lost a million pounds for her latest role, but because she is about so much more than her appearance and her shape.

It's not just that women are obsessed with being the right shape -- it's that we feel foolish for that obsession. We know we're not supposed to care, and yet we do. But we wish we didn't! How do you get out of that loop?

I go around saying that I don't care what shape I'm in -- I just care that I'm healthy. But you know what? I'M TOTALLY LYING WHEN I SAY THAT. What I should be saying is, "I don't care what shape I'm in as long as it's this one I've managed to maintain by some miracle, and also please universe, do not strike me with an extra 10 pounds ever, ever, ever." When am I not going to care? How old will I be? Sixty? Seventy? Eighty? I don't know. But I'm going to stop lying and saying I don't care. I can do that at least.

Do you care what shape you are -- honestly?
