NFL Cheerleaders Bravely Shave Their Heads to Support Coach Who Has Cancer (VIDEO)

indianapolis colts cheerleaders shaving headThe outpouring of support for Indianapolis Colts Coach Chuck Pagano has officially reached an all-time high. Fans and Colts athletes famously buzzed their heads in honor of their coach and on Sunday night two cheerleaders joined the shear madness.

Megan M. and Crystal Ann, Colts cheerleaders, cut off their long locks last night following a dare from the teams mascot, Blue. On November 11, Blue tweeted that if a cheerleader could get her head shaved, he could raise $10,000 for leukemia research. Megan took the dare and her teammate Crystal joined her.

In front of a packed stadium of more than 60,000 people and with cameras lined up on the sidelines, Megan and Crystal held hands as the crowd roared in delight. Together, the girls, Blue, and the CHUCKSTRONG cancer campaign, raised over $22,000 in for the cause. But it was Megan's reaction to her fresh cut that is really making headlines ...

After debuting her new 'do, she said:

“I just shaved my head ... These people are going through the battle for their life and they’re really the ones who deserve all the praise.”
When you're a football fan, you're all one big family. You all root for your team, cheer as loud as you can, and hope for the best outcome. It doesn't matter if the athletes, the coaching staff, and the fans three rows down from you are actually totally strangers -- until the game clock taps out at zero, you're all family. These cheerleaders were supporting the family they've made for themselves.

And serious props to these girls for doing it all in front of a sold-out crowd and on national television. They put vanity aside last night to support their coach. I think it speaks volumes of how adored Chuck Pagano is, too. You wouldn't shave your head for any Joe Shmoe on the street, would you? But it was clear from the moment Megan accepted the twitter dare that this Colts nation was out to make an impact for their favorite coach. She said, “I think everyone hopes they can make a difference in their life and hopefully that’s what we did yesterday.”

What an awe-inspiring action on the part of these cheerleaders! I give them props and say "you are a better woman than I," as there is no way I could ever shave my head like that by choice. Brava ladies!!
