Jessica Simpson's Amazing Post-Baby Body Inspires Me to Lose Weight the Right Way

Jessica Simpson Ashlee SimpsonLosing 60 of the 70 pounds she gained during pregnancy hasn't been an easy feat, but Jessica Simpson's rockin' post-baby body is more than enough proof of what can be accomplished with a little hard work, patience, and dedication.

Since giving birth to her daughter, Maxwell, back in May, she's been counting her food points as part of the Weight Watchers plan (I'd count points too if I were being paid millions to do it), and she's been working out like a madwoman with her trainer, Harley Pasternak.

And even though she's a celebrity, which means she has certain luxuries that make it a whole heck of a lot easier for her to eat healthy and work out than most moms -- it's still hard not to be inspired by her slow and steady approach to shedding her post-baby pounds.

And you know what? If Jessica Simpson can lose 60 pounds in a matter of six months, then there's no reason why I shouldn't be able to finally kick the extra 10 pounds that have been following me around for almost a year now to the curb once and for all.

I keep trying to get the weight off to no avail, and it's pretty obvious that there's a reason why I can't seem to make the number on the scale budge.

Every single Monday, I start whatever fad diet it is that I've happened to Google over the weekend in the hopes of it being the magic cure to take me down a dress size or two again. And I follow said diet all week, and then come Friday night? All bets are off, you know, because it's the weekend, and weekends mean going out to eat and having a few drinks and relaxing and all that good stuff.

And then by Sunday night, I'm Googling again, because the last diet obviously wasn't worth a damn -- and then I get up on Monday morning and repeat the entire process.

But after seeing that photo of Jessica Simpson looking so happy and confident, I think it's time to turn over a new leaf. And starting today (instead of Monday), I'm going back to a healthy eating, everything in moderation, working out a few times a week type of approach, in the hopes that maybe, just maybe, these extra 10 pounds will find their way off my body by the time summer rolls around.
