Kristin Cavallari Reveals the Secrets Behind Her Incredible Post-Baby Weight Loss

kristin cavallari bing it on costume challengeNo more than two months after having baby Camden Jack, former Dancing with the Stars contestant and MTV The Hills star Kristin Cavallari looks like a supermodel. You would never in a million years guess she just had a baby. It's a sight to be envied, and her weight loss has left plenty of women with dropped jaws. Myself included, when I met up with her last week for the Bing It On Halloween Costume Challenge.

We caught up with her there to find out more about her amazing, effective post- (and pre-) baby fitness and diet.

So, first things first: What are your secrets for shedding the baby weight?!

Well, breastfeeding burns 500 calories a day, and I read somewhere that it's like running six miles a day. So, I'd say if you can, stick with breastfeeding. And I'm a healthy eater in general, and I stayed that way during my pregnancy, I didn't use that as an excuse to eat whatever I wanted. I definitely enjoyed it, but I didn't go crazy! I didn't gain more than I was supposed to. And I just have a healthy lifestyle, so that helps.

What workouts did you enjoy when you were pregnant and are you enjoying now?

During my pregnancy, I actually did yoga which I don't typically do, but I was doing that -- the Vinyasa Flow yoga, twice a week usually. And then, I would just walk uphill on the treadmill or do the bike. Nothing crazy. But it was more about getting moving, you know, almost every day.

Obviously Jay has his own workouts at work [as QB for the Chicago Bears], but do you guys ever work out together?

We don't typically work out together! I don't dislike it or like [working out together], but he works out at work, and so ... I've been taking classes with a girlfriend when he comes home, and he watches the baby. It's nice to get out of the house, and go do normal things!

What was/is your diet like?

I [eat] healthy for the most part, given here and there. But I don't ever diet. It's more just like a lifestyle that I have. I never have to diet really. ... I've been cooking a lot lately actually. I think it's because I've been stuck at home with the baby so much that it's like I need something to do! Jay's enjoying it, and I have fun doing it too, so it's been nice.

What are your favorite healthy treats?

There [are] these cookies. They're actually vegan. I'm not vegan, but I try to eat vegan a little bit. They're called [Uncle] Eddie's, you get them at Whole Foods. You'd never know they were vegan, they're amazing! Or there's this ice cream made with coconut milk, Coconut Bliss, it's so good! Cuz I think if you're gonna stay away from one thing, it should be dairy. So I'll do alternatives like coconut milk.

Which of Kristin's tips do you find most useful or can you relate to most?

Good grief, most healthy, active women get back to their pre-baby weight without much drama, quit acting like it's so unusual. Before the "obesity epidemic" it was standard for a woman to weigh the same throughout her lifespan and get back after pregnancies, it's not that hard, for pete's sake! Of course that was before women expected close-up parking for mommies and all that nonsense!

Running 6 miles only burns 500 calories?  I googled it - she's right.  That's very distressing.  That's a couple of cookies!
