There are few things more annoying and uncomfortable than a cough. Nausea can give it a run for its money, but in the end, coughing definitely wins. Especially when you're trying to sleep at night. Ugh. Worst ever. You're exhausted and run down, and all you want to do is sleep, but you can't. Because you're coughing. And coughing. And coughing.
But there is hope. Here are 5 ways to stop coughing now.

Hot water with honey and lemon is good for coating the throat while also helping to cut through mucous. And I swear by licorice root (not to be confused with licorice candy, lol). Be careful with it though, too much can be a bad thing. Best to get it from a reputable herbalist or health food store, with proper instruction. You can also find it 'pre-packaged' in herbal teas made for coughs (throat coat, etc).
Also, Dr Pepper, warmed and with a few squeezes of lemon. Seems odd, and even a little gross, lol. But it really does help! :)
My daughter used to get croup ALL THE TIME when she was a baby. We would end up in the ER at least once a month so they could give her some strong breathing treatments. The only way to get her to come out of these coughing fits was to bring her out into the cold night air, within a minute or two she would finally be able to stop coughing and breath. A steamy bathroom had the opposite effect for her. Thankfully shortly after she turned two she grew out of whatever it was that was causing her to get so sick all the time, and we never had to go to the ER for her breathing again. And for adults- Brandy with some lemon juice and honey warmed up in the microwave for about 45 seconds works amazingly for cough and congestion.....and it helps knock you out so you can get some sleep lol!
We do vicks on the feet, covered with cotton socks. My son sleeps through the night, everytime.
I was hoping this was to help relieve a baby of their cough given there was a pic of a coughing baby next to the headline. My son has had a nasty cough ever since he got a cold a month ago, everything else cleared up except the cough. We have tried vics, a humidifier, breathing treatments, nothing works. Given he is only 7 mos old, honey is out of the question.
How exactly would vics on the feet help with a cough. On the chest makes sense....but on the feet???
