Jennifer Lawrence Fires Back at Critics Who've Called Her Fat & It's Fabulous

jennifer lawrence vogue UKDespite enduring a rigorous diet and training program to play Katniss Everdeen in the first installment of The Hunger Games, Jennifer Lawrence somehow found herself under fire with some critics for looking too "well-fed" to play the sci-fi blockbuster's heroine. I know -- they have to be kidding us, right?! You don't have to look much further than the November cover of Vogue UK -- or the forthcoming Spring/Summer 2013 Miss Dior handbag advertising campaign, for which she's the new spokeswoman -- to see that the 22-year-old is fit and stunning.

She knows it too. But that doesn't mean she doesn't feel the need to address ridiculous comments that have been made about her body ...

Jennifer tells Vogue UK, "I'm so tired of the lollipops," referring to stick-thin celebs. She continues:

I mean, if I looked like that, I wouldn't be tired of it, obviously. But it's hilarious, the way I'm supposedly the overweight one? Like, [tabloids] got me at the movies yesterday and the caption read something like, "Curvy star cannot wait to dig into tub of popcorn." I mean, c'mon!

Not quite following that first part (so, if she was a lollipop, she'd be okay with that? Hmmm ...), but I appreciate that she's calling critics out on their BS, rolling her eyes at the very notion that she's Hollywood's version of overweight. It's like when catalogues try to sell us on "plus-sized" models who look about a size 10. What a joke.

And because Jennifer's not a size 00, she's suddenly "curvy"? Not so sure about that ... I'll always argue about this 'til I'm blue in the face, but Kim Kardashian, Salma Hayek, Sofia Vergara, BEYONCE are all "curvy." As in they have very distinct Marilyn Monroe-ish sexy feminine curves! Jennifer Lawrence has a seriously hot figure, but she's not exactly Mae West.

Regardless, all the nitpicky critiquing about the figures and weights of women in the spotlight is completely out of control. Blabbering on and on about who's a twig and who's got a few pounds to shed is helping NO ONE. So, good on Jennifer for joining other famous ladies, like Lady Gaga, to rail out about the madness and fans -- especially, hopefully, some of her younger Hunger Games fans -- a much-needed reality check.

What are your thoughts on Jennifer Lawrence's backlash to the media's criticism about her weight?
