Unless you've been living under a rock, you've most likely heard the buzz about Paul Ryan's rock-hard abs. Indeed, the Republican vice presidential candidate's "what obesity epidemic?" physique is remarkable (we're talking body fat between 6 and 8 percent, here), even if the 42-year-old is so careful about what he eats that he skips the cake on his birthday.
So how does he do it? Rumor has it the high-intensity P90X workout routine is what whipped Ryan into shape. You've heard of P90X, right? Oh, yes you have ...
It's that workout from those late-night infomercials with the people whose before and after pics are so radically different it looks like their heads were photoshopped onto other people's bodies.
Well, I don't think Paul Ryan actually started out looking like one of those before pics, but he is in undeniably good shape. So what's this P90X thing all about, anyway? Here are the pros and cons:
Pro: Never boring. P90X combines all kinds of cardio, from jump-training to karate and more -- there are over 300 core exercises for abs alone!
Con: Time-consuming. Think approximately 90 minutes a day.
Pro: Insanely energy-boosting. Maybe because one tends to sleep like a rock after exercising for 90 minutes per day!
Con: Tough on the joints. Particularly the knees, some people say.
Curious? Try this 10-minute version from P90X creator Tony Horton and see if you end up looking like Paul Ryan! Or, you know, the female equivalent.
Do you think Paul Ryan's rock-hard abs are a result of P90X?
