Cancer Victim’s ‘Last’ Confession Is a Painful Wakeup Call (VIDEO)

eric's last confessionThere is nothing more tragic, more frustrating to witness than the spark of a young life fading slowly away. Especially in the case of someone like 28-year-old Eric McLean. Since he was diagnosed with leukemia in 2003, McLean has fought the horrible disease. He's battled excruciating pain with incredible bravery. He's kept hope alive through suffering most of us would find unbearable. Through it all, he's managed to raise thousands of dollars for leukemia and lymphoma by founding the non-profit organization L.I.F.E. (Leukemia Ironman Fundraiser for Eric). Then there's what may prove to be McClean's most significant contribution to the world, a series of brutally honest video "confessions" that will make it impossible for anyone to ever forget WHY we need to find a cure.

See, Eric just filmed his last confession. After many relapses, rounds of chemo, stem cell transplants and experimental drugs, his doctors gave him the crushing news: There is nothing left to be done.

I can't even begin to explain the emotion in this video -- the heartwrenching sight of a 28-year-old man coming to grips with the fact that his life is coming to a close. He fought so hard, for so long. It wasn't supposed to end this way.

The least we can do for Eric McLean is to keep up the fight he started. And someday, hopefully, to finish the fight he started.

Do you think we're getting closer to winning the fight against cancer?
