Hey, everybody! Are you ready for today's edition of STOP EATING THAT FOOD BEFORE IT KILLS YOU!? That's good, because according to the latest study, eating too much of this particular food can put as much plaque in your arteries as a "lifetime of heavy smoking." So get your grocery list and get ready to cross off ... eggs.
For cripe's sake, really?! Are we back to demonizing everybody's favorite breakfast food for its high cholesterol content? I mean, yes, eggs are high in cholesterol. We've known that for quite some time (since egg white omelettes became a thing, approximately). But then we found out that eggs can actually raise "good" (HDL) cholesterol. Hooray! Omelettes with egg yolks! Or ... not. Now suddenly eggs are as much of a health hazard as cigarettes? What gives?!

Okay, fine, maybe we eat way too many eggs on the whole in this country:
Last year, the average American consumed 247 eggs -- over 40 percent more than the world per-capita average. Because egg yolks are high in cholesterol, eating whole eggs increases cholesterol, a known risk factor for coronary artery disease (CAD) and heart attacks.
Okay, fine, maybe we should not eat quite so many eggs. But do we really need to equate the risk factor of a fondness for fritattas with a nicotine addiction? This panic mentality has got to stop.
Because ironically, last time I checked? Stress is pretty bad for your heart, too.
Do you think eggs are really as bad for you as cigarettes?

I love how the media hypes everything up lol. SMOKING WILL KILL YOU...eventually. EGGS WILL KILL YOU...if you eat a lot of them.
Honestly what is next? Vitamins contain embalming fluid? So, stupid. If you actually worried about what every survey or "study" shows you would worry yourself to death. ACTAULLY, this article reminds me of an article I read about hot dogs causing children cancer, and if you are pregnant you shouldn't eat a lot of hot dogs because your baby will be born with a higher risk for cancer.
My favorite breakfast is bacon on buttered toast, if I die (60 years from now), I declare...breakfast was soo worth it.
My grandfather has had 2 or more eggs for breakfast EVERY DAY since he could eat solid foods. Ironically, he has also used one form of tobacco or another since he was in the single digits. He has the heart and lungs of a 50 year-old. He turned 84 in January and is still going. The important thing is exercise and not sitting around on your butt all day.
I think it boils down to 'too much of a good thing is still a bad thing'. Everything has pros and cons, I think the key is to find balance and have as much variety as possible. Comparing eggs to cigarettes is a bit ridiculous. Lets compare eating a protein packed egg a little high in the cholesterol to a nasty nicotine addiction that not only harms you but the people around you *eye roll* PLEASE!!! GET REAL!
I feel like as long as you balance your eggs with other healthy foods that "clean up" your plaque and lower your cholesterol, it's probably okay. Especially because eggs are really a good source of protein and other important nutrients that we NEED. Just like with everything... too much of a good thing is not always a good thing...
Yeah, I totally did NOT eat 247 eggs in the past year. Where do they come up with these ridiculous numbers???
LMAO do you people believe EVERYTHING you read? Free range, no MSG, no HORMONE eggs are NOT bad for you. Just another push from the "people in charge" to keep the sheeple eating "cereal" that does nothing but damage your immune system. Geeze people are so friggin stupid!!!!
When I start eating 20 eggs a day and cigarettes suddenly become loaded with protien, I'll take this to heart. No pun intended.
