Robert Pattinson’s Weird All-Liquid Diet Is a Wash (VIDEO)

robert pattinson kristen stewartOh, Robert Pattinson ... that boy just cracks me up, I tell ya. Take, for example, the way he recently explained his sleek physique: “I’m on an all-liquid diet ... I had to be shirtless for a photo shoot, so I asked a nutritionist what’s a diet in which you can still drink as much as you want. She said a liquid diet.” Ha! Reminds me of Patsy from Absolutely Fabulous, clinging to her cocktail:

Wouldn't you like something to eat, Patsy dear? Liquid lunch, darling. Liquid lunch.

Ha! Classic! But wait a second -- RPattz isn't seriously stealing stay-slim tips from Patsy Stone, is he?! Because an all-liquid diet can't possibly be a good idea. (Not for long, anyway.)

Here's the thing about all-liquid diets: Because giving up solid food means giving up a whole lotta calories, you will lose weight -- but it might not stay off for long. That's because drastic calorie reduction causes your metabolism to slow down. Like in energy-conservation mode. Hey, your body has no way of knowing what's next -- could be a years-long famine! So most people, once they go back to eating actual food, put all the weight they lost right back on, fast. (I've seen it happen, folks.)

But wait, there's more! Liquid diets generally don't provide adequate amounts of essential nutrients or protein, which can lead to everything from fatigue to hair loss to heart damage, not to mention loss of lean muscle mass.

Oh no, Robert Pattinson! Not your hair! Better check out this video of RPattz with lots of locks before it's too late.

Have you ever gone on an all-liquid diet?
