Bad news for some of you who suffer from migraines: Six months after Novartis issued a massive recall of Excedrin (along with a few other products), it's still missing from store shelves.
The company says it plans to restart making its meds on a "line-by-line, product-by-product basis" and start restocking some products later in the year. But they didn't say which "line" they're starting with. Because it's more fun to keep us guessing!
Everyone's migraine headache is different, but what if this over-the-counter med just happened to be the silver bullet that reliably killed yours? Time to revisit those alternative migraine remedies.
I don't get migraines, but I have friends who get them and they've tried a long list of remedies. They say it's just about finding the right combination of treatments and then constantly tweaking that combo -- with the close supervision of your doctor, of course!

Hormone therapy: For some women, migraine headaches are tied to their production of estrogen. So (very, very carefully) managing their hormones through birth control pills or injections can sometimes help.
Cranial sacral therapy: The therapist puts their hands on you and tunes into your "cranialsacral rhythm." It's kind like of a head massage but more is involved.
Acupuncture: Recent research shows this can help relieve migraine pain.
Yoga: If nothing else, this can help relax and revive you in between migraine headaches. But some positions are believed to help treat migraine sufferers.
Gluten-free: There may be a link between eating gluten and migraine headaches.
Supplements: Magnesium supplements can help relieve premenstrual migraines. Some people have found relief from other supplements like riboflavi (vitamin B2), CoQ10, feverfew, and butterbur.
So there's that. Or there's the Excedrin black market. Are you ready to go covert and pay extra for relief?
Do you get migraines? What works for you?

There are generics, I get the Target brand.
I tried all the generics for the Excedrin Headache & the Equate Headache Relief Extra Strength works just as good as the Excedrin & they are cheaper
i've had migraines has far as i can remember at a very young age (around11) they are less frequents but ive learned to know what is a migraine or just a headache..as soon as i do feel a migraine it 's cold cold dampcloth on my forehead in a dark cold room a pepsi :) doesnt always work and sometimes last for days until i go to the er to have an IV, then im fine within 20 minutes...
my first migrain was after i had my son (first born) he was only a couple weeks old and i woke up one morning and INSTANTLY grabbed my head i was in so much pain i couldnt get up i started to cry and it made it worse of course but i didnt know what to do i have never felt this before. i went to the E.R and they just gave me vicodine and sent me on my way. the second time it happened i also went to the E.R it was only a few days later and they sent me home again... so now i am still getting migrains the only thing that did work for me is excedrin migrain. since they took it off i have tried everything from bayer with asprin advil, tylonol, motrin, you name it. i just want my excedrin back :(
melanie it sounds like your getting dehydration migrains... not that i am a doctor or anything because i def. am not but from what you said about the IV and your head aches going away i would try drinking the reccommended amounts of water a day and see if it helps. when your body doesnt have enough water even if you dont feel dehydrated you very well could be without knowing until you start showing symptoms, like the migrains. i was told that too and believe it or not i do still get them but fewer and farther between. just a thought :)
TYFS! This is great; Also having a lot of water to drink...is good
