I Danced on Broadway Like a Bollywood Star! (VIDEO)

by Lindsay Ferrier on July 6, 2012 at 10:51 AM

I'll Take That DareEver since watching Slumdog Millionaire, I've had a special place in my heart for Bollywood movies -- especially the romantic musicals. The fact of the matter is that life would be a lot more fun if we could all break into spontaneous song and dance during our most emotionally charged moments.

That's why shooting this week's episode of I'll Take That Dare was SO MUCH FUN.

Monica Kapoor, a star in Broadway's MAMMA MIA! and Bollywood dancing expert, taught JoAnn From Bensonhurst and me a Bollywood dance routine. But it gets even better.

We actually got to perform the routine on Times Square, along with nine Broadway dancers! See the hilarious results for yourself after the jump -- then tell me in the comments if you'd try Bollywood dancing!

Okay, first of all, is Monica Kapoor not BEAUTIFUL? I felt like the biggest, clumsiest oaf dancing beside her -- but to her credit, she made me feel good about my, um, questionable dance skills.

And if you're wondering what JoAnn From Bensonhurst is like in real life, just know that you wouldn't be disappointed. She's seriously funny -- and she really does tell it like it is, 24-7.

I used to dance in high school, but this Bollywood routine was hardcore. I have to admit, I was completely lost! I had fun with it, though, and the experience of performing with Broadway dancers on Times Square was undeniably AWESOME. The best part? We made a dollar and twenty-five cents in tips! HA!

Bollywood dance just might be the next Zumba and I will definitely sign up for classes if they're ever available in my area ...

Would you?

I've taken a few bollywood dance classes and even though I hurt in places that I don't even want to think about I loved it!

When I first got connected with Lindsay's style blog (before moving to CafeMom), I was SO excited and encouraged to have a great source for keeping up with fashion since I am in the "little ones" stage of mommyhood and have NO time to spend looking for myself even though I still want to look fashionable. I have been SO disappointed the last 3 posts have been "Dare" videos completely unrelated to fashion. I really liked the original goal and intent of the fashion blog for the average mom. The videos are unrelated, and I feel like I am wasting my time coming to this site since there are not any new fashion posts. The historical trend of this blog has been such a great source of help, and I am sorry to see its most recent direction moving away from fashion.
