We Tried It

I Faced My Fears on the Trapeze! Would You? (VIDEO)

Trapeze SchoolYou are witnessing a true moment of terror.

In this photo from the latest episode of I'll Take That Dare, I'm standing atop a tiny platform on a windy New York rooftop, high above a busy street choked with cars.

I'm supposed to grab the trapeze bar with both hands, jump off the platform, and sail through the air.

You can't see my face in this picture, but I'm completely panic-stricken.

Check out what happened next -- and tell me if you'd try trapeze training -- after the jump!

This is definitely the dare that kept me up at night worrying.

And it's not hard to guess why -- as you can see in the video, I'm scared of heights! The last thing in the world I wanted to do was climb an impossibly tall ladder and stand on a tiny platform.

Once it was over, though, I was so glad I went through with it -- and honestly, I'd recommend a trip to Trapeze School New York to anyone who visits New York and is in reasonably good shape. When I finally jumped off the platform, it was completely exhilarating -- and trapeze is actually not as hard as it looks. As long as I listened to the instructor and followed his cues exactly, I could use gravity to help me do what was required.

What surprised me most was all that I was able to do in just one lesson -- I won't spoil the video's ending for those of you who haven't stopped to watch it yet (Watch it! C'mon! WATCH IT!), but the finale trick is truly awesome, and really made me feel like I had accomplished something.

I can't wait to go back to New York and try it again!

What about you? Would you try trapeze school?

thanks for sharing. I love this! I would be absolutely mortified but would insist on trying it. This is a lot more tame than other things I could do to face my fears (i.e, skydiving, bungee jumping). So bring it on. There's really no way to get too badly injured doing this. Sign me up, please! :)
