Are you a fan of The Hunger Games? Silly question, of course you are. How could you NOT be after sneaking a peek at Jennifer Lawrence and her girls at yesterday's LA premiere? Or even better -- her hunky male costar Liam Hemsworth. I swoon.
Well, if you don't already live, eat, and breathe The Hunger Games, which comes out nationwide tomorrow (you can read our early review of the movie, here) -- now you can get fit The Hunger Games way, too. Yup, the craze has taken over your local MySportsClub gym, where they're now offering a circuit fitness class based on everything Games fanatics love about the movie and seriously successful books.
You know what? I'd have to admit -- The Hunger Games workout could be one of the best ways to get in shape, period.
Well, the idea behind it is -- anyway.
First, let's touch on the workout itself. Essentially it's a 50-minute class where gym-goers are guided through a circuit of five moves by a trainer, including Capitol Crunches, Jabberjay Jacks, Peeta Presses, Katniss Killers, and a sprint around the "arena." Whoever completes the workout in the fastest time (and avoids all of the trainer's "disasters") is declared the winner!
Well shoot, put me in Spandex and call me Katniss. This sounds fun! And you know what? The fact of the matter is that if you don't do a workout that interests you, then you won't stick with your fitness routine. Not saying that since you're a Hunger Games fan, your absolute PERFECT workout is HG themed. However, you're totes more likely to give it a shot, wouldn't you say so?
My personal poison is running. I literally ADORE the way that running makes me feel, and most workouts I try pale by comparison. It's just something about keeping a beat to my music and having the ability to go anywhere and everywhere on my own two legs. For you, it might be Zumba, kickboxing, or walking laps around the mall with your girlfriends. Shoot girl, do whatever makes you happy.
