Wow. Reese Witherspoon is looking good these days. Of course, that's not to say that she's ever really looked bad, but you can tell that she's firmed up a bit more and is in the best shape of her life. I mean -- have you seen her amazing legs? I'm totally jealous.
Reese had to get into tip-top shape for her new movie, This Means War. Her trainer, Michael George, says that she owes her hot bod to a healthy eating plan and to going hiking while carrying light dumbbells, as opposed to major sweat sessions in the gym. In addition to regular hikes, Reese and Michael would also stop in the woods and do yoga poses to cool down. Um -- for real? Does that mean if I walk up and down the big hill in my neighborhood while carrying soup cans and then do a little downward dog in my front yard, I'll wind up with a physique like Reese's?
Somehow I'm not so sure.
I'm not suggesting that Reese's trainer is lying or anything like that, and I'm sure that regular hiking sessions did help whip her body into shape, but odds are good that she did set foot inside a gym with him on more than one occasion. Celeb trainers totally dig their gyms, and I doubt they are willing to completely give them up when it comes to training A-list clients.
Of course, Reese isn't the first celeb to turn to the great outdoors as an alternative to regular gym exercise.
Cameron Diaz is about as buff as women get, and she can credit her lean and mean body to regular surfing sessions. Surfing sounds like a great way to stay in shape, but I'm sure it takes quite a while to get the hang of it. Then again, the simple act of trying to surf may be more than enough of a workout for those of us who need to tone up a bit.
Ali Larter was a big fan of hiking to lose her baby weight, and she even strapped her bundle of joy Teddy into the Baby Bjorn and took him on hikes with her, which meant that she was able to work out without worrying about a babysitter. Genius! She's lost all her pregnancy pounds and looks amazing. Hmm -- maybe there's more to the whole hiking thing than we think?
Celebrities definitely serve as a great source of inspiration to get a little more creative when it comes to squeezing in regular workouts. But something tells me that it's a whole lot easier to get motivated to get off the couch and make exercise a priority when you have a personal trainer to help you -- inside or outside the gym.
