Eva Longoria Shares Her Secret to Looking So Good

Eva Longoria Health MagazineLately, every time I look at Eva Longoria, she looks so freakishly happy. Maybe it's because she's shacked up with her hunka hunky boyfriend Eduardo Cruz. Ay caramba! Nevertheless, the 36-year-old Desperate Housewife looks chipper as ever on the cover of the January/February issue of Health magazine.

Inside, she offers some of the best health insight I've ever read. No, she's advising that we should all start running 1,200 miles a week or stick to a diet completely made up of cucumbers and soybean paste. Rather, her secret to looking so good focuses on what's on the inside.

Eva told Health:

People think health only has to do with your physical being, but for me, it's so much more. I remember after my divorce, I was so thin and everyone kept saying how great I looked and it was probably the most unhealthy place I've ever been. So it was funny what people would see as 'healthy.' In my worst time, people were saying I've never looked better. [But now] I have a great diet and exercise routine. And I try to have a healthy outlook. I'm your everlasting, hopeless optimist!

Amen, sister. Longoria has a seriously awesome point. You could be uber-thin like Demi Moore, but being skinny doesn't mean you're healthy. How many times have you pointed at eensy models, saying you wish you could be like her? For me, it's too many to count. Oftentimes it's easy to lose sight of the idea that looking like that may not be what's best for your body, AND we forget what those women eat (or don't eat!). Liquid diets for weeks? No thank you!

It feels nice to hear a celebrity acknowledge that just because they're skinny doesn't mean they're the epitome of health. Like Eva said, being healthy is about the whole package. If you've found a good fitness groove, then the next thing you should work on is the mental, emotional, and spiritual side. For many women, being our healthiest may not mean being a size 0. And like Eva, I'm a-OK with that.

What do you think about Eva's approach to healthy living?
