Giuliana RancicIt was just two days ago that E! News host Giuliana Rancic revealed she had breast cancer, and today she underwent a double lumpectomy as part of her breast cancer treatment. The lumpectomy procedure sounds incredibly unfun, to say the least, but it appears to have gone well for her, and now she's hopefully on the road to a speedy and full recovery.
What's really amazing is Rancic plans to return to work next week, despite the lumpectomies and the six weeks of radiation treatments that are scheduled to start soon. This woman is a total frickin' trooper and an inspiration for all women.
I've never had a lumpectomy or radiation treatment because, well, I've also never had breast cancer (thank god and knock wood), but I know it's no walk in the park. Just like infertility treatments are no breeze. However, Giuliana Rancic is fast becoming an incredibly positive role model for both. I don't think I'd be returning to work so quickly after a lumpectomy, but Rancic is planning to get back to work anyway. I don't think I'd have to guts to speak out publicly about my personal health tragedy, especially right in the very emotional middle of it, but Rancic did it anyway -- in hopes of helping other women.
When I'm down and out, I always find strength in people who seem to take the hardest blows in life with grace and spitfire optimism. I've written before about Rancic's bravery and hopeful attitude, and now, even with this horrific new blow of breast cancer news amid infertility treatments, she's maintaining this inspiring point of view.
Most importantly, though, Rancic does not try to pretend her health issues don't suck. We know when she talks that they totally do. She wells up with tears. She doesn't smile or get all Pollyanna and say everything is fine. Instead, she talks about her situation with this message of positivity and hope while also approaching it in a way that feels real and authentic. That is the kind of strength we can all hold onto, and it sort of makes me feel like, "If she can get through these hard times of hers, I can definitely get through mine."
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Giuliana Rancic. Here's to a speedy recovery!

Love that @vamom08. Very inspiring!
I recently found out she was only in her mid 30s... but she looks like she's in her late 40s... not that that's a bad thing .. but the wrinkles on her face a very prominent... especially on her reality show.
Seriously, this woman is going threw hell right now. She IS inspiring and if anyone badmouths her right nowIi will see them as nothing but petty and small.
Really, are you people that shallow!? How petty!! Don't judge someone until you've been in their shoes! I am dealing with both issues as well! I'm fighting breast cancer and I had to use fertility treatments. I just had to have a hysterectomy & I'm having a Bilateral Mastectomy once I recover from the Hysterectomy. I also just started Chemo and will be on it for 5 yrs! You people should be ashamed of yourselves! She is in show business. Yes, it's a "Business"! And as part of that business she worries about eating & looking good in front of the camera. That's her job!! There's always someone younger or prettier just waiting to steal your job from you! Let's see some of you get in front of a camera everyday and see how well you do! Show some support people! So, you may not like her personally, but as a said before, put yourself in her shoes before you judge her! People deal with things in their own way. She is doing the best she can while trying to save her life!!
Gotta say, I could return to work if I did what she did - she stands there and reads off a teleprompter folks - it isn't rocket science. Anyways, I look at her and pray she's okay but I also know she really needs to focus on her priorities before life passes her by. The ego that drives her in front of the camera each day needs to be tamed so she can enjoy her life and make the baby she professes to want so much.**
And make the baby in private. I don't know what it is about this generation that needs to see all this stuff develop in personalities' lives. But babies are an intimate moment and you need to chill and focus on that. Don't focus on narrating your life on the rest of us.
