Christina Aguilera hasn't exactly had an easy few weeks. First, she flubbed the National Anthem at the Super Bowl. Then she took a stumble on stage at the Grammys. And most recently, the former Mouseketeer was booked for public intoxication when she was found drunk in a car with boyfriend Matt Rutler at 2:45 a.m. Once again, thank you Hollywood for proving that bad things truly do come in threes.
But the fun doesn't stop there. Now a few of Aguilera's closest friends are begging her to enter rehab. Say what!? Hasn't the diva had enough already? The last thing that Xtina needs is rehab, fools.
Within the last three months, the tabloids have been on top of Christina's alcohol "abuse." Starting with New Year's Eve, the singer was reportedly slurring her words and found passed out in the bed of The Hurt Locker star Jeremy Renner at his 40th birthday party. OK, so that's incident number one.
And then there's what happened on Tuesday. According to People, Aguilera was not at all belligerent, just intoxicated. Los Angeles County officials said that she caused no disturbance and they were simply holding her in jail for her safety. Right, so let's just double check here -- that's two recorded incidences, correct? So why is everyone comparing Miss Burlesque herself to Lindsay Lohan and, gasp, Charlie Sheen? Aren't we being a bit over-dramatic?
Her recent arrest and the piling criticisms are sure to be a wake-up call for the starlet who likes to indulge every once in a while. Do me a favor and answer this question honestly: Have you or a friend of yours gotten drunk once or twice within the past three months? Forgive me for making the assumption, but I'm going to say that the answer is yes. The difference between you, me, and Christina is that when you're a celebrity, the times where you have a drink too many are recorded and broadcast to the masses. Sorry for being blunt here -- but the truth of the matter is that the girl got a little too drunk, didn't hurt anyone, and was released a few hours later. There's no need to overstate it. And well, there's certainly no need to toss her into rehab.
Do you think Christina Aguilera should head to rehab?
