If you woke up this morning, poked your belly and groaned, welcome to 2011. It's a new year, and per the most popular resolution out there, it's officially time to get off your butt and lose weight. Which is enough to make you roll back over in bed and groan . . . loudly.
Lost weight rocks, but losing weight flat out stinks. It feels like something celebrities can do in a New York minute, and the rest of us spend days, months and years working at with no results. Seriously, Snooki lost weight eating cookies? And a month of eating nothing but yogurt has done nothing for you?
We can't drop the pounds for you, so we're doing the next best thing -- we rounded up real moms with real weight loss successes (not a cookie in the bunch) to inspire you. Maybe you'll find some tips in here that work?
Beret, mom of a 9-year-old and a 5-year-old: "I lost 35 lbs by investing in a treadmill and a jogging stroller and using them everyday. I hated running but I had to do something. Then my husband bought me an iPod and I grew to be addicted to running. I love it now."
Kentrina, mom to a 4-year-old and a 2-year-old: "With my first I went up to 165 from 120. I breastfed and lost it all by the time she was 10 months and got pregnant again. I was 170 when I had him and went all the way down to 135 by my 6-week check up by breastfeeding and chasing an 18-month-old with a newborn, then down to 125 with Weight Watchers and breastfeeding by 6 months."
Nicole, mom of three: "With the third, I gained 45 lbs. He is my last, so I think I'm more determined to lose the weight. I cut back on sugar and anything white (carbs), and not so much red meat! I also exercise when I can. I'm trying to lose 10 lbs still, and it's really hard but I also haven't had time to really focus on losing. I also find that if in my mind I believe that I'm losing I do. Your mind is very powerful."
Katrina, mom of a 4-year-old and 1-year-old: "P90X! I can't physically do it all, but even trying works."
Andrea, mom of a 5-year-old and a 3-year-old: "I used (still use) a program called TakeShapeForLife. Within a month of doing the program I became a health coach for the system and now help my clients with food issues. It's not just a diet, it helps re-evaluate your relationship with food and how your life can be affected by food and the importance/revelance of that. I gained 65 lbs with the first pregnancy. lost 40, then gained 35 with the second. I now weight the same as I did when I got pregnant the first time. I am a bit bigger, not as toned, but at least the weight is down and I can now concentrate on shaping."
Jennifer, mom of two: "I use the Trans Firmer system. I gained 40 lbs with both pregnancies. It got me back in shape both times. Love it!"
