No matter how much we profess to love our bodies, all of us have days when we just don't feel comfortable in our own skin.
Even Jessica Simpson -- a tireless advocate for positive body image and host of the Price of Beauty -- has bad body days. In fact, she recently spilled to the United Kingdom's Closer magazine two things about her figure she wishes she could change:
"I have a white girl booty. I don't have a big butt. I'd rather have a happy medium and take some off my chest and put it towards my butt so I could balance out a bit."
Jessica is constantly under media scrutiny for her weight ups and downs, so you can imagine how her critics reacted to this comment ...
Kim Serafin from In Touch Weekly had this reaction:
"She's got to know that people are going to focus on this. When people ask her a question about her body she should say, 'I'm really happy about my body, and by the way have you seen my new handbag line at Macy's?' And, if they ask her again, she should say "And how about my shoe line at Macy's?' She should not talk about her body because people are then going to obsess about it ..."
Her point? That Jessica's weight is the subject of negative media attention because she brings it on herself! (Right, because her shoe line is sooooo much more interesting than her personal life.)
I admire Jessica for being honest about her body issues -- especially given the fact that the media is so often mean to her. It takes a lot of courage to admit things about ourselves we wish we could change. Jessica may want a bigger booty, but she still seems pretty confident in the body she has. If anything, comments like these just make her more real.
What do you think about Jessica's bigger booty comment?
