Jessica SimpsonAfter many struggles both in and beyond the public eye, Jessica Simpson says she's in a good place right now.

"I'm very happy. Right now in my life, I'm the most confident I've ever been. I can make that statement," Simpson, who recently turned 30, told People.

So beyond her new boyfriend, footballer Eric Johnson, how did she get there?

"I really believe that somebody should just sit in front of their best friend in the world and have their friend ask any and every question -- offensive or not. And whatever it is, answer it," she said. "That's your therapy. Really tackling those issues inside and out."

No word on which friend she sat down in front of, or what questions were asked. But oh wouldn't you have loved to be a fly on the wall for that session?

I have some great friends, but I don't know if I could handle such an in-depth interrogation by someone so close to me. I think I'd be much more open and less guarded with a therapist or other professional.

Jess told People that while criticism can still sting, she's better equipped to handle it.

"At this point, nothing else can be said about me that could be worse than I have already read," she said.

True, but most of most of us don't have to read every day what people really think of us. And to ask a friend to unleash ... well, I could see such a session being a little dangerous and perhaps damaging to a friendship.
