Flickr photo by boo_liciousI'm going to share with you my best food find ever: Whole Kitchen Chicken Taquitos.
I discovered them several years ago, and my freezer has never been void of them since. They are my favorite snack, hands down, and they make a great meal too with a salad and black beans.
I've always waited for news that their nutritional stats are wrong because they're so unbelievable. For five entire taquitos (a very filling portion, I think), there are only 180 calories and 3.5 grams of fat. They also contain 5 grams of fiber and 9 grams of protein.
And they're good, really good. You bake them in the oven and they're crunchy and perfect for dipping into salsa, sour cream, or guacamole. My children love them, and I feel good giving them to them.
Other taquitos don't stack up nearly as well. For example, in just three El Monterey chicken taquitos, there are 270 calories and 10 grams of fat. And those in restaurants fare even worse.
If you haven't already, check out this great product, which can be found only at Whole Foods. If your location doesn't carry them (I know some don't), ask them too. You'll be glad you did.
Have you tried the Whole Kitchen Chicken Taquitos?
