Weight-Loss Calendar Week 10 -- Time to Train for the 10K

So, I'm back on the scale this week because it was time to check in even though it was rather nice to check out from all those numbers for a while. I weighed in at 153 today, which means I haven't lost any weight in the past two weeks, but I'm okay with that.

Linda wrote a great post Monday about dealing with setbacks and pushing past them. I think it's such an important sentiment to keep in mind when you're staring down any daunting goal. You can't be perfect at something, but that's no reason not to attempt it anyway.

But, looking forward! I registered for my first 10K today. I'm both thrilled and terrified. Fine, mostly terrified. It's scheduled for September, so I do feel good about how much time I have to train.

Still. That's a lot of miles and a lot of running those miles. Especially since the farthest I've ever run at one time is half the distance of a 10K. You now understand the terrified part, don't you?

I'm working off an 8-week novice training plan I found online, and I'll allow myself to repeat weeks I need to here and there (this is what I did with my 5K training and it worked well). No matter how terrified I am, though, I can't wait to write through this process and to share it with all of you. It'll make crossing the finish line in September all the more fantastic.
