Schmoozing, buttering up, brown nosing, call it what you will, but being extra nice to your children's teachers is nothing but a good thing. First of all, they deserve it -- can you imagine putting up with 20-plus kids your own kid's age all day, every day? Me neither.

Also, you just never know when you're going to need their help. Be it with extra attention to a problem your child is having or to maybe get a ruling in your favor when it comes down to a split decision as to if you made the tardy bell or not, it's always good to have the teacher like you and your child as much as possible.

That doesn't have to mean being obnoxious (no one wants to be THAT parent) or sending in elaborate gifts, but there are some little things you can do throughout the year to build a better relationship with your children's teachers

We all know that parent. The mom who cannot accept that her child is disrespectful and instead insists he is "right." The dad who tells his kid that school doesn't matter. Yikes. Teachers do not love these parents that are undermining the classroom and therefore their own child's education. But there are also more minor offenses a parent can commit that can add up.

Of course, many parents who wind up on "the list" don't even realize it, which is part of the problem. If you want to guarantee that you're not that parent that all the teachers dread having in their classroom, read on. Here's how to be a parent teachers love.

It's that time again, fellow moms. The time when we stock up on endless pencils and tissues and antibacterial wipes for a brand new classroom. When we shop for shiny, clean backpacks and retire the swimsuits for soccer cleats. When we force our kids to smile for new school year photos and kiss up to a whole new group of teachers. In other words? It's the very best time of the year.

It's silly, really. She has been in a big Pre-K and had three years of pre-school. She can read, do simple math, make friends easily, draw elaborate pictures and get along well in a group of kids. I know she is ready. But I? Am not.

We moms worry. We have our own set of concerns from our own school days that haunt us, but we also have concerns about our kids themselves. We are moms. Worry is our middle name. So here are some of the top 10 worries moms of incoming Kindergartners have:

Back to school time is always a tough one for parents. But back to school time comes with a whole different set of issues for parents of a child with autism. Fear not brave parent! The Stir talked with two moms who have been there, done that, and survived! Jean Winegardner and Shannon Rosa are well known in the blogosphere for talking about their children on the spectrum -- you may know them better as Stimey from Stimeyland and Squid Rosenberg from Squidalicious -- and they shared their tips on getting autistic children ready for school:
