We are always on the lookout for amazing gender reveals -- ones that get super creative, ones that are funny, and ones that manage to bring a little bit of hope in the aftermath of tragedy. A fun group of US soldiers stationed in Afghanistan managed to do just that with an epic gender reveal they staged for the child of a fallen friend

Britt Harris and her husband, Chris, had been married for less than a year when the soldier was deployed to Afghanistan. Soon after, Britt told her husband that she was pregnant with their first child, but before they had the chance to celebrate the news, Chris was tragically killed in the line of duty by an IED (improvised explosive device).

In an effort to keep Chris's fellow soldiers included in her child's life, Britt decided to let them in on the news of her baby's gender first. "I asked if they'd like to be the first to know the gender and they were really excited," she told ABC News. "I told them I would ship confetti poppers or something and they could be the first to know and feel included."

Britt says a large part of her decision to include the men centered around how concerned she was with the folks who had to deal with her husband's loss just as much as she did. "I'm dealing with a lot and grieving but I got to take off work and go to counseling, but they didn't get to. I didn't want them to be forgotten over there," she said.

The soldiers got the idea to film themselves opening the poppers. One of the men, Joel Crunk, posted the video on YouTube with a caption that read, "August 2, 2017, Chris Harris laid down his life for our country. His newlywed wife was expecting their first child. The [gender] reveal is in Afghanistan with the men who fought by his side. We are happy to welcome the new member of our company."

Britt Harris was elated with how the video turned out and reposted it on her on Facebook page. "I probably watched it 100 times myself," she told ABC News. "I was crying but smiling because their reaction was so wonderful."

The woman shared that her husband reveled in the thought of becoming a father. "When I told him, it was the happiest I'd ever seen him," she said. "He was so excited."

The ecstatic new mom plans to name the baby girl -- who will be born in March -- Christian Michelle Harris to honor her late father.
