The phrase "nevertheless, she persisted" continues to empower and inspire women of all ages. Case in point, this 8-month-old girl who was born with many health issues but continues to overcome them. Her mom, Lori Trainer, shared the incredible photo in the Facebook group Pantsuit Nation.

This sweet baby's smile is certainly going to make you smile as well, and the phrase on her cranial helmet just adds a whole other element of power and poignancy to those words.

Mom Lori told how the family was given scary news regarding the health of their daughter when she was born a month and a half premature. While the baby was in the womb, there was a blood incompatibility, and just after birth, she had to have a lifesaving exchange transfusion. They needed to stabilize her bilirubin levels, which were so high that the little girl was green "like the Statue of Liberty" for months, Lori told the Huffington Post.

"My little girl was born with some health issues that resulted in some pretty intense interventions that ended up saving her. We were given an explanation of what to expect, but nevertheless, despite the rollercoaster, she persisted," Lori wrote in her Facebook post. Her persisting continued, and the little girl had to wear a cranial helmet to help with her plagiocephaly and brachycephaly. This helmet has to be worn for eight months, 23 hours a day.

In early February, Senator Elizabeth Warren was silenced by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell when she tried to read Coretta Scott King's 1986 letter expressing opposition to the confirmation of Jeff Sessions. McConnell's words about Warren regarding his silencing her on the senate floor were: "She was warned. She was given an explanation. Nevertheless, she persisted."

Women owned the phrase. Just like this little girl has.

On speaking about her daughter, mom Lori said that her persistence made her want to put those words on the helmet that helps her. And she also dedicated her posting to other NICU parents.

We love how this phrase has become a symbol of empowerment for women of all ages. We can and will persist in the face of adversity; we can overcome obstacles of all kinds and succeed and soar. And we love how this little girl is persisting. She is an inspiration, as is her mother, whose strength lights the way.
