Footage of Store Clerk Saving a Baby From Seizing Mom Will Give You Chills (VIDEO)

clerk saves babyYou never know when you might be called upon to do something heroic -- you just hope that if you ever are put in a position where you have to step up in a major way, you do it with the sort of unhesitating courage displayed by Colorado convenience store clerk Rebecca Montano. When a young mom she was waiting on had a seizure, Montano sprang to action from across the counter to save her baby (and the dramatic video footage is enough to give any mom a panic attack!).

Everything starts out fine: A woman holding a baby is trying to pay for her soda; Montano (a mother and grandmother herself) is talking to the baby. Then, well, the ordinary interaction takes a turn for the worse. Check it out:

How's your blood pressure doing right about now?? It's impossible to watch that clip without wondering what would have happened if Montano hadn't been there. It's almost as if she had a premonition about how bad things were about to get, because at first it wasn't really apparent that the mom was on the verge of having a seizure (at least it wasn't to me), even though she was acting strange. It's just such a huge miracle that Montano had the presence of mind (and motherly intuition) to grab that baby when she did!

Not that Montano considers herself a hero or anything.

"I’m a mother, I’m a grandmother. It’s motherly instinct to worry about children," she told KDVR.

"I just wanted to save the baby from getting hurt; if she would’ve fallen with the baby in her arms, who knows where that baby would’ve landed?"

Thanks to Montano's instincts (which included an immediate 911 call), the mom is currently "doing well." And I'm sure she's also feeling immensely grateful! This story is definitely an inspiring and important reminder that there really are some Good Samaritans out there, and that we all have the potential to be one.
