Fraternity Brothers Make the Holidays Bright for Little Girl With Cancer (VIDEO)

lexi brownFraternities have something of a bad reputation these days, what with all the stories of hazing and other bad behavior, but the brothers at one California fraternity are helping to change that by doing their part to make a young girl's bout with cancer just a little bit more bearable.

12-year-old Lexi Brown has been battling cancer since the summer of 2014, when doctors removed a tumor from the muscle in her thigh. After undergoing chemo and radiation, Lexi was declared cancer-free. She was able to enjoy two major "wishes" granted to her: Attending the Women's World Cup in Canada with her family (and meeting the team!) and going on a trip to Hawaii with her friend Edith, who also has cancer. Unfortunately, when Lexi came back from her trip, she learned that her cancer had spread to her lungs -- which is why the girl is now in a hospital room at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center overlooking the Sigma Alpha Epsilon House at the University of California, Los Angeles.

In an effort to cheer Lexi up and distract her from her diagnosis, she and her mom Lisa made a sign asking for pizza and put it up in her hospital room window. Neither one of them knew that anybody saw the sign, however -- until five brothers from SAE showed up with not just pizza, but roses and a guitar (for serenading purposes, of course).

“Five guys come in, and they had a guitar and dozen roses and a box of pizza,” said Lisa. “They introduced themselves and said, ‘We saw your sign; we’re here.’ They stayed for a half an hour, they sang this song and I started bawling my head off. I’m like, ‘I can’t believe these people are here for my child.’”

Just look at Lexi's smiling face in this pic:

It's okay, go ahead and cry! Because things are about to get even more heartwarming: SAE member Chase Gasper is also on the Men's Soccer Team at UCLA, and when he found out Lexi likes soccer, he texted his teammates with a special request ... and they all came through:

Awww! So sweet. Of course, the more people who heard about Lexi's story, the more visitors she got, including players from both the men’s and women’s tennis, rowing, and swimming teams; members of two sororities showed up, as well. But the SAE brothers and Lexi have definitely formed the most special friendship of all, with the fraternity members even decorating the roof of their house in Christmas lights spelling out the girl's name, just so she has something special and sparkly to see through her window at night. Check it out (but make sure you have tissues handy!):

God bless those frat dudes, every one! And here's wishing Lexi many happy and healthy holidays to come.
