Dad Takes Great Steps to Be Able to Walk His Daughter Down the Aisle (VIDEO)

Father and daughter walking down the aisleFor many fathers, it is a moment they've pictured a million times. His daughter is getting married and it is time to walk her down the aisle. It is an iconic moment and one that Ralph Duquette was determined not to miss. For Duquette, a leukemia survivor, the walk down the aisle represented a substantial physical challenge.


In order to share this special moment with his daughter, Heather, Duquette enlisted the help of physical therapists and spent all summer gaining the strength he needed to be able to get out of his wheelchair and make that special walk for her October ceremony.

And if you think just reading about this is enough to give you the sniffles, you're going to need to grab the Kleenex when you watch the video.

GRAB THE TISSUES: Every girl dreams of having their father walk them down the aisle on their big day. For Heather Duquette, she knew that would not be possible. Heather's father, Ralph Duquette from Old Orchard Beach, ME, is a leukemia cancer survivor and was bound to his wheelchair. After several painful physical therapy sessions, Ralph was determined to walk Heather the few steps to the altar. And don't think that Duquette just sat back down after that epic walk. Nope, he went on to not only perform the ceremony but also to join Heather for the traditional father/daughter dance at the reception.

We'll just go ahead and assume there wasn't a dry eye in the house when that happened!
