McDonald's All-Day Breakfast Menu Is a Good Move for Moms on a Budget

Let's face it ... preparing breakfast, lunch, and dinner for the kiddos each day is no easy task. But McDonald's new all-day breakfast menu might be just the thing for time-strapped moms on a tight budget.

The mega fast-food chain has been moving away from its Dollar Menu for the past few years, as food and labor costs across the industry have gone up. For example, you used to be able to get a cheeseburger for $1, but now it sells at two and a half times that at $2.48.

It might not seem like a lot, but if you're trying to feed three or four hungry kids plus grownups, it adds up quickly. Compare the price of a cheeseburger to a Sausage McMuffin at $1.56, and it seems like a no-brainer.

According to Market Watch, the average price of items on the breakfast menu (sandwiches, burritos, pancakes, oatmeal, etc.) is $2.71, while the average price of regular items (burgers, wraps, nuggets, and more) is $3.77. The website noted that that's a 28 percent difference.

For the days when you're at the end of your rope, the dishes haven't been done in two days, the fridge is empty, and the kids are all hangry -- the Micky D's breakfast menu is a great choice to feed the fam without breaking the bank.
