Dad's Pancake Masterpieces Put Our Smiley-Face Flapjacks to Shame (PHOTOS)

the pancake dad starry nightYou know how pancakes shaped like rabbits or cars make kids think you're the coolest person ever? Well, one dad is using that same "OMG" factor to change the world. Just donate 100 bucks to help build clean water projects for people in need -- and Brady Phelps will make you the most amazing pancakes you've ever seen.

Brady Phelps isn't an artist. He's not even a chef. He's a dad in San Diego with two kids, ages 3 and 5, who cares about the world. A lot.

So much that he's not sitting around, going, "Eh. Sucks that not everybody has clean water. Hope someone figures that out."

He decided to make it happen.

"663 million people on this planet don't have access to clean water," Brady explains on his Charitywater.org donation page. "Nearly 700 million! That's 1 in 11 of us. That's absurd! It's 2015. Not having flying cars can be forgiven. Lack of drinking water can't."

So here's how Brady's making a difference. For every person who ponies up $100 to the campaign, he'll fire up his griddle and make whatever the heck pancake you want. ("Apologies ahead of time," he writes, "if your walrus pancake looks more like Jabba the Hutt, or vice versa.")

A time-lapse video and photo of the finished product is then emailed, tweeted, AND posted on Instagram, where Brady's handle is -- of course -- @ThePancakeDad.

No surprise, people are, er, flipping out about this. Brady's delicious idea has already raised $36,381 toward his $50,000 goal -- which means at least 1,212 people will get clean water.

Plus, just look at the amazing edible art that's been created.

We've never seen such delicious proof that one person CAN make a difference. Is making pancakes a kinda crazy (like a fox!) way to do so? Yup. But as Brady puts it on his site, "The craziest thing we can do is nothing."
