Sweet Teen Insists on Providing 'Backup' for Cop While She Pumps Her Gas (PHOTO)

It has got to be scary to be a cop these days. While it's always been a dangerous job (hello, they carry guns for a reason), it seems like there's a lot of anger building up against law enforcement officials in general these days, especially in light of the deputy who was killed at a gas station just last week. One Texas teen was determined that another officer wouldn't share the same fate while pumping her gas.

Mckinley Zoellner, 16, just wanted to do the right thing and make sure that Harris County Deputy Constable Tommi Jones Kelley stayed safe while she refueled her car. She was so touched by his gesture that she took a selfie and posted it on Facebook, where it's been shared over 220,000 times so far.

She wrote, "this teenager I've never met before is standing right behind me & says, 'ma'am, do u mind if I stand here behind you while u get ur gas?'" When she asked him why, he answered, "To make sure you stay safe!"

It was even more touching coming just a week after fellow Deputy Darren Goforth was shot and killed while refueling his patrol car. He was in uniform at the time, and officials described it as an "execution-style" attack.

Thirty-year-old Shannon Miles has been charged with capital murder in the killing. Officials say that she shot him in the back, and then fired more shots as she stood over him. The 10-year police force vet was buried with full honors on Friday.

Zoellner continued to watch Kelley's back, even though it was raining. When he got back into his mom's car, the officer told her she has an "amazing son," and, "...she said he wanted to make sure no one hurt me."

She wrote that he "stood there empty handed, but he for sure had my '6' while my back was turned." The term "got your six" means you have someone's back, referring to the six o'clock position.

Kelley shared, "With all the terror going on nationwide, this reassured me there are still some pretty awesome individuals out there!"

Faith in humanity restored!
