Teens Holding Hands Are Saved From Lightening Strike by Their 'Electric Love' (VIDEO)

dylan and lexieThe odds of getting struck by lightning? Pretty low. The odds of a teen romance turning out to be the real thing? Also pretty low. But for two California teenagers who recently survived getting struck by lightning because they were holding hands, the odds might be in their favor!

Dylan and Lexie of Claremont, California, were taking a nice stroll down a tree-lined street -- holding hands, of course, because they're teenagers in love -- when the area began experiencing severe thunderstorms. That's when lightning struck (literally!), sending the teens reeling.

“Next thing you know, we are on the ground and we gave each other the most terrified looks you could possibly imagine,” said Lexie.

No doubt! Dylan, meanwhile, described the feeling of being struck as a “kind of shove” and “getting hit over the head with metal or something.”

Yikes. But here's the craziest part: Besides the fact that they were both knocked over by the force of the electric current, Dylan and Lexie are both perfectly fine -- and doctors say it's all due to the fact that the teens were walking hand-in-hand when they were struck!

"It helped to diffuse the electrical current that ran through their bodies," said Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center physician Stefan Reynoso.

Wow! I've gotta say, if I were a teenager and this happened to me and my boyfriend, I'd take it as a sign from above that we were meant to be together forever. I'm guessing these two -- who now refer to their love as "electric" -- are probably doing just that. It would be pretty hard not to take the fact that your relationship literally saved your life seriously, after all! I just hope they really are meant to be together, because it sucks when the Universe sends mixed signals.

Plus, this would make the cutest story to tell at their wedding someday!

Just look at what an adorable couple they are (and so relatively unscathed!).

Best of luck to this happy, healthy couple -- may they always serve as each other's good luck charms! (And may they please choose "The Electric Slide" as their wedding song someday.)
