You Don’t Know How Lucky You Are!

We all love our kids. We do anything to ensure their comfort. We buy them things they don’t need, we shower them with an excess of attention and we feed them like they’re never going to get another meal.

But guess what? There are kids out there who actually do have to worry about their next meal! As a matter of fact, one out of six people in this country alone struggle with hunger. And that is why, starting April 6, Walmart is joining forces with Feeding America and ConAgra, General Mills, Unilever, Kellogg’s, Kraft and Campbell’s to fight hunger by strengthening local food banks.

So, if you happen to be strolling the aisles of Walmart between April 6th and May 3rd, stop at the Walmart Fight Hunger Spark Change display and take the opportunity to teach your children about the Fight Hunger campaign.

It’s easy, fun and there are three ways you can help make a difference.

  • PURCHASE specially market items at Walmart

For every participating product purchased, the suppliers will secure one meal* on behalf of Feeding America and their local food banks.

  • DONATE at the cash register

  • SHARE on social media and tag your friends!

Take a photo of six people who are all committed to fighting hunger and post it to your Facebook, Instagram or Twitter page. If you use the hashtag #WeSparkChange and make sure your post is set on “public,” it will be counted. And for every public social media post that’s counted, Walmart will donate $10 to Feeding America and their local food banks (all the way up to $1.5 million!)

Most kids have a basic understanding about poverty. They get it that there are kids in the world who are hungry. But, they don’t always realize they have the power to help make a difference. It is our responsibility as parents to provide for our children. But we also have an obligation to let them know they are the lucky ones and educate them accordingly. We can make an impact. We can Spark Change!

Our kids are great little people. But it’s important to let them know just how lucky they are and how sometimes the smallest thing can make a big difference.

How do you teach your children about those less fortunate than them?

**For every participating product purchased at Walmart between April 6th and May 3rd, 2015, the manufacturer will donate $0.10 to Feeding America® - enough to secure 1 meal on behalf of local food banks – up to each manufacturer’s maximum donation. Each manufacturer’s maximum donation is provided on the participating packages. See package or for details.
