Woman Walks Into Toys 'R' Us & Pays Off Every Single Layaway Account

Who doesn't love a good secret Santa story? A woman in Bellingham, Massachusetts, has been dubbed a "layaway angel" after spending $20,000 to pay the balance on every single account at her local Toys 'R' Us.

The woman, who wished to remain anonymous, paid off the balances on about 150 layaway accounts. A spokeswoman for the toy store confirmed to ABC News on Thursday, December 11, that she had gotten into the holiday spirit in a big way and decided to bless these families with the Christmas presents they were having trouble affording.

In an official statement, the company said, "This incredible act of kindness is a true illustration of holiday giving at its best."

The woman was described as a "bubbly older woman" and a local by store employees. She said that taking care of the purchases would help her "sleep better at night," and her attitude toward giving is "if you have it, give it."

One beneficiary of her kindness was a mom to two boys, ages 10 and 11, who had put $50 worth of toy cars and racetracks on layaway for them. She said she had gone to the store with only $9 last weekend, desperate for them to accept her small payment for a layaway purchase. She was overwhelmed when the store called and told her to come pick up the toys.

"I thought, 'You have to be kidding me,'" she said. "I almost wanted to cry. It was only $50, but to me that's a lot of money, and that someone would go and do that gave me chills ... what she did was so caring and thoughtful. I feel like I was part of something special -- touched by an angel."

What an awesome way to celebrate the holiday season -- by being someone's angel.

Have you ever benefited from someone's generosity like this?
