Jogger Finds Baby Abandoned in the Bushes After Alleged Car Jacking

An 8-month-old baby girl is back safe and sound with her mama, thanks to one jogger who decided for some strange reason to take a different route than usual on Monday morning. The runner found the baby in her bucket seat in some tall grass after hearing her cries, and contacted the authorities immediately.

Houston police had issued an Amber Alert around 3 A.M. on Monday, after Genesis Haley was abducted from a Texaco gas station. It was one of those mothers-worst-nightmare moments too -- mom left the sleeping baby in her car seat in the car while she went inside to pay. Her car got jacked, and the joyrider sped away with her child inside.

Ugh, I can't even imagine how terrifying that must've been! Especially after the car was found about two hours after it was stolen -- with no baby inside. Mom (whose name isn't being released) probably thought she'd never see her little girl again.

Hong Nguyen totally saved the day when she found the tyke. She was strapped into her car seat still, so even if she's mobile at 8 months, it's not like she could crawl anywhere. And in the Texas heat? That kid probably wouldn't have lasted the day in those conditions.

Nguyen told a local news station, "That's my duty as a human being to do that ... I can't believe -- it was so scary to see that situation."

She also said that she didn't usually run that route, but decided to go that way today for some strange reason. She's thrilled to have found Genesis, alive and healthy. "I feel very happy and good. The baby and parent can be back together," she said.

Genesis was taken to the hospital to be checked out, but miraculously she had no injuries other than a few ant bites.

Police are still looking for the alleged car thief, who is described to be around 5-9, and looks to be in his mid-20s. Anyone with any information is encouraged to call the Houston Police Department at 713-308-3600.

Do you think it's a miracle that baby Genesis was found?
