6 Black Friday Video Game Deals Too Good to Refuse

game controllersIn case the massive hype over the XBox One and the Playstation 4 both being released just in time for the 2013 holiday season haven't clued you in, this is going to be a hot year for video games. More than half the population now cops to playing some sort of video game -- be it on a console or on their computer. So where do you even start this Black Friday to get everyone on your list squared away?

Here's a look at some of the hottest games for everyone in the family -- from Call of Duty Ghosts for the adults to Skylanders Swap Force for the kids -- so you can grab the best deals.

Would you let the kids play number four? What games are on YOUR list?

  • Disney Infinity

Much like Skylanders, Disney allows kids to turn a real-life toy into a character onscreen. But there's an extra attachment to these toys as they're all beloved Disney characters. The platformer sandbox game takes the movies kids know and love and lets them dive in, with literally days of play ahead of them. My daughter got this and hasn't stopped run out of stuff to do with just the characters in the starter pack!

Where to get the deals: Toys R Us has Disney Infinity Starter Pack for $37.50, while Wal-Mart has it for $38.96. The pack is $49.99 at Target, and GameStop is selling the Disney Infinity characters -- buy one, get one free.

  • Call of Duty Ghosts

Activision released this game in early November (and I got hold of a sample copy to play when it happened) before XBox One or Playstation 4 had hit stores. And yet, it's already been dubbed the top selling Xbox One and PlayStation 4 title! Available on a number of other consoles too -- from Wii U to the older XBox and Playstation models -- the first-person shooter game gets kudos for a challenging campaign.

The game is rated M for Mature, so keep this one for the older teens and grown-ups.

Where to Get the Best Deal: Both Wal-Mart and Amazon have COD listed for $39.96 on Black Friday.

  • Skylanders Swap Force

When the Skylanders franchise was first announced, it revolutionized video gaming by allowing kids to collect real-life characters that are matched to characters on-screen. The latest version, released this fall, lets the Skylanders work together in ways they haven't before to provide a whole lot more game play for your buck.

One of the best parts? All those Skylanders from previous versions integrate with the new one.

Where to Get the Deals: Amazon and Target are selling Skylanders Swap Force Characters – Buy 2 Get 1 Free. Wal-Mart is advertising the usually $80 game for $38.96. Toys R Us has Skylanders Giants or Spyro's Adventure starter pack for 3DS for $9.99 with purchase of 3DS XL, the Skylanders: Swap Force Wii U bundle for $260, and a Starter Packs for Skylanders: Swap Force for $37.50.

  • Grand Theft Auto V

The latest -- and some say greatest -- edition in the popular GTA series came out earlier this year, but it's still hot for the holidays. Another one rated M for Mature, it's definitely not for the kids.

Where to get the deals: Amazon and Best Buy are both offering it for just $34.

  • Batman Arkham Origins

No self-respecting Batman fan wants to be without the newest in the popular Arkham series. The action-adventure offers a third person perspective of Batman's life and a whole new look at Gotham.

Where to get the deals: Toys R Us has a 250GB PlayStation 3 bundle with Batman: Arkham Origins and The Last of Us for $200. Best Buy and Amazon have a PS3 Black Friday Bundle with Last of Us and Batman Arkham Origins for $199.99. Wal-Mart is selling the game itself for $34.

  • LEGO Marvel Superheroes

Combining two passions for most of today's kids -- superheroes and LEGOs -- this is one of those games children will want, and adults will buy "for the kids" (wink, wink, nudge, nudge).

Where to get the deals: Wal-Mart is selling the game for $25, while Target is offering free keychains and/or LEGO toy sets with any purchase of a LEGO game. Kmart has the 3DS version of the game for $29.99.
