Smart Bartending Machine Might Be the Greatest Kitchen Appliance Ever

Did you ever wish that you had a friend at home to greet you with a drink at the end of a long day? One that knows that you like your martinis with vodka and a splash of pickle juice (don’t knock it ‘til you’ve tried it, people!)? One that could maybe call you a cab if you needed to go out again?

That friend is here, my fellow cocktail drinkers. Now if only he looked like Ryan Gosling … but nothing is perfect, right?

Monsieur is a small company in Atlanta that has developed an automated bartending machine that puts those Margaritaville blenders to shame. Not that there’s anything wrong with those babies, I love a frozen margarita as much as the next senorita, but the Monsieur machine sounds like it’s ready to get to know the real me.

The Monsieur hooks into your wifi, and has the cyber power to remember your routines and preferences. It recognizes when you come home, as your smartphone joins to the network, and offers to pour you your usual. If you’re not home by your normal time, it will text you to ask if you’ve had a hard day and would you like a stiffer drink? If it detects another person trying to connect to the wifi, it will offer to pour a second drink for your guest.

It also keeps track of how much you’ve had to drink, and based on your weight, will estimate your blood alcohol content and bring up taxi-hailing apps like Uber or Taxi Magic if it thinks you need a lift.

So. Awesome. The only downside I can see is the fairly steep price tag. Monsieur is a start-up, and they’re using Kickstarter to roll out their first batch of home models. The standard Monsieur, which has room to hold eight liquors and mixers, will run you $2,699, but they do offer a four-container Monsieur Mini for only $1,499.

Ok, maybe a little out of my price range at the moment -- but a girl can dream.

Would you buy a Monsieur bartending machine?
