One Direction Singer Quits Twitter and Puts Miley & Gaga on the Warpath

zayn malikHaters gonna hate, but they're starting to ruin Twitter for the rest of us! One Direction member Zayn Malik is just the latest celeb to quit Twitter over a mean-spirited confrontation. Perez Hilton posted a video of Zayn supposedly inviting a girl back to his room after a concert. Only problem -- Zayn has a girlfriend, Perrie Edwards, AKA not the girl in the video. Also, we don't even see Zayn.

Not only did Zayn quit Twitter, but Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga, and Britney Spears all unfollowed Perez Hilton in protest! They think he went too far, accusing Zayn of cheating on his girlfriend. Zayne didn't mention Perez in his last tweet. But he did pretty much blame the haters.

"The reason i don't tweet as much as i use to, is because I'm sick of all the useless opinions and hate that i get daily goodbye twitter." Zayn added, "My fans that have something nice to say can tweet me on the one direction account, x." Ouch.

That is such a bummer for Zayn's fans! People follow celebs on Twitter for that extra bit of contact. It's cozier than reading an interview. Even if it's just Zayn saying "hello", that little crumb of contact is like a gold nugget for fans.

I kind of don't blame Zayn for leaving. Who wants to stick around for that kind of abuse if you don't have to? And of course it's great PR to quit Twitter all in a huff -- even if you eventually return. Remember when Miley Cyrus "quit" Twitter? No?!? Probably because she's on it so much now. Quitting Twitter has practically become a celeb rite of passage! So hang in there fans, we may see Zayn return anyway. Twitter is just too irresistible a PR tool -- right, Pauly D?

Meanwhile, Perez Hilton is crowing like he just took down the Wicked Witch of the West and not some celeb kid implicated in a video where we don't even see his face or get any context. Here's part one:

Ew, right? And here's part two:

Well, I guess that's what it's all about. No wonder Miley and Gaga and Britney unfollowed him. Celebs don't need to be treated with kid gloves, but bragging that you chased a kid off Twitter? Don't like.

Do you think Perez Hilton went too far? And do you think Zayn Malik will be back on Twitter?
