Actor Calls Robert Pattinson the D-Word on Twitter and All Twi-Hard Hell Breaks Loose

db sweeneyNot super-well-known actor DB Sweeney was the talk of the Twitterverse this weekend when he enraged Twilight fans by calling their beloved Robert Pattinson a "douche" on Friday. Sweeney, who probably-not-coincidentally just starred in Kristen Stewart's mom's directorial debut, tweeted: "Just saw Pattinson on #DailyShow trying to figure out what took k-stew so long to look around with this douche astride her. #holytwit."

And then, as one may suspect, an all-out Twi-hard V. Sweeney Twitter war broke out. It was some of Sweeney's finest work to date.

Some of the tweets that were sent to Sweeney? Let's see ... @superhuman_xo wrote: "he's not a douche. u obvi dont know what ur talking about"; @Marystat wrote: "how bout NOT talking about this at all? That would be more professional…but guess any PR is good PR for you?"; and @twirobkstew posted the to-the-point message "fuck you asshole!" to Sweeney.

DB didn't back down, though. In response to the cacophony of messages that flooded his account, he wrote: "Hey #twilight genuises--try decaf! A little too worked up over a skinny vampire!"; and then: "Nice language twi-hards. Or should i say tards? Love the inchoate indignation."

Here's what I love about the Internet: It gives pretty much everyone balls of steel. I mean, what kind of discourse is this between an actor and movie fans? Or any two people in general for that matter? Ever since the Intarweb came 'round -- Twitter in particular -- people are dropping f-bomb-laden insults to everyone and anyone. It's making us super aggro. And mean, too! I don't get out much, but do people talk like this to each other in real life, or as I refer to it as: IRL?

Everyone does need to chill out and not get so worked up over everything. Including DB Sweeney.

Is your "Internet personality" the same as your "real life" personality?
