New iPhones With Facebook Will Mean Annoying TMI Overload

Oh, for the love of everything that is good and holy, please let it stop. The Facebookification of our lives continues. Now when you upgrade or buy a new iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch, it comes pre-installed with Facebook. And you stay logged into Facebook. And when you sync your iPhone calendar, it grabs all of your birthdays and other contact information from your Facebook list and meshes them all up with your iPhone contacts. And all of the stuff you put into your phone will automatically appear on Facebook. I mean come on, people, I'm so over it!!! Stop!!!!

I already get far, far too much information about everyone's daily minutiae on Facebook. Who checked in where. Who is with whom. Who tagged whom. Who responded to whom. And now there's that whole "star system" at the top where you can "star" someone and anything they say or do, you get an update on it. The days when I wanted to stalk anyone that relentlessly are long gone.

I just don't have the energy anymore, Facebook. Remember when stalking was fun? Remember when it was fresh and new, and you were all like, "Omigod, I can't believe I can see my ex-boyfriend's wall and that he went to Bermuda with his new girlfriend last week!" and now you're all, "Omigod, I don't care about the 20 ex-boyfriends I have on my list, I don't want to know anything any of them are doing and please just leave me alone!!!"

Even Wall Street knows we're all over Facebook. That IPO tanked. And yet companies keep integrating with Facebook and keep throwing it at us, more and more and more Facebook!

Anyway, I guess this will be good news for those of you who are still addicted to Facebook. And I do still check in with it, it's still the most convenient way for me to quickly gather information about a wide range of people that I never have the time to see in person or even chat on the phone with (if people still do that). I just do not want every single tiny sound bite of everyone's lives anymore. And this new integration will just guarantee more of that. Sigh.

Are you over Facebook?
