Hacked Porn Site Users Just Learned an Embarrassing Lesson

pornSo, if you've ever been to the porn site, YouPorn, or suspect someone you know and love has, you might want to get your affairs in order. Or, you know, at the very least, you might have some 'splainin' to do. The massive website (one of the top 100 sites in the world!) recently experienced a massive security breach, and the emails, passwords, and birthdays of over one million users have been exposed. Aw-kward.

This, ladies and gentlemen, is why you never, ever put your real email or name or anything when signing up for something shady. Like a pornography site.

By now you must know this: The Internet is a lawless wasteland where anything and everything is possible. Sure, things may look all neat and tidy on the outside, but on the inside, it's a hot mess where anything you've ever done, typed, or looked up is susceptible to a compromise of some sort. It's every man for himself out here, so you best cover your ass.

There are certain things online we have no control over -- they are what they are. For instance, if you do your banking online and your account gets hacked into and drained, there's not much you could have done to stop it. (And the bank will replenish your funds.) But other things -- things like signing up for porn sites -- can totally be protected. Use a different email.

It takes all of two minutes to create a Gmail account. Do yourself a favor and create one right now. Not a primary one, another one. And use that address when you're filling out crap on illicit sites. It's worth it. I guarantee you there are over one million people who will back me up.

Do you have more than one email?
