Danica Patrick Never Wants to Be Called This Word Again

Danica PatrickNot sexy ... right?Danica Patrick, a NASCAR racer and model, was swarmed by the media yesterday during NASCAR's media day. But instead of her comments about important racing stuff, like how she's making her Sprint Cup debut in the Daytona 500, the biggest thing to come out of her interviews was the fact that she'd prefer being called "pretty" over "sexy." In fact, she pretty much doesn't want to be called anything with the word "sex" in it.

I can't help but feel like this is kind of a strange thing for Danica to be complaining about. I mean, have you seen those Go Daddy commercials? (You can after the jump.) Most of her Google Image results feature her half-clothed, bending over sexily (oops, can't use that word anymore) a car. If that's the kind of image she wants to put out there -- not like any of us can blame her, being blessed with those looks -- she oughta not bite the hand that feeds her.

Here's exactly what she said when it comes to this harrowing, life-altering subject:

If there is a pretty girl, (reporters) don't know how to describe her other than being sexy. It has such a negative connotation to it. You don't say those kinds of things to frame it like that for a guy or even sometimes talk about it, but it seems like with female athletes, if they are pretty, (reporters) only know how to describe them in a sexual way. I don't care, but I just wonder why we can't talk about it in a different way.

Yeesh, must be a really tough life when your biggest problem is when reporters refer to you as "sexy." I guess I didn't realize the word carried with it so many negative connotations. I mean, how many times have we referred to male athletes like David Beckham and Tom Brady as "sexy" instead of "handsome"? I wonder if they mind too ...

Since this is the biggest highlight of Danica's comments coming from media day, perhaps there is something about the media's obsession with a hot-looking athlete. But I feel like it's a futile thing to complain about all at the same time: Sorry to tell you, Danica, but this is how the world works. The hotter you are, the more likely it is other people will want to have sex with you, hence the word "sexy." Especially when you're posing in photos like this and this. I don't think the majority of us women would want to pose with an expensive car wearing nothing but a bikini and stilettos and not want to be called sexy!

In an ideal world, we'd all be entirely focused on Danica's amazing driving skills instead of her other ... assets. But this isn't an ideal world. And when you're in commercials like this, I think being called "sexy" should be the absolute least of your worries:

Do you think reporters should stop calling Danica Patrick "sexy"?
