Demi Lovato's 'Twitter Break' Leaves Her Fans High & Dry

demi lovatoSome celebs treat Twitter like their personal playground for verbal diarrhea. Others think spewing mindless tweets will catapult them from obscurity to the A-list. But there are those who really have something of note to say from time to time, and Disney actress-turned-pop star Demi Lovato is that kind of celeb. Well, I should say, was that kind of celeb, because apparently, as of today, she's quitting Twitter -- at least for a little bit.

On Saturday, Lovato tweeted, "Twitter break. It's for the best actually. Who allows me to have this thing anyways?!!! I just get myself in trouble. Anyway...BYE!" The only real clue we have to why she made the decision to take her fingers off the "tweet" button is the tweet she sent prior that said, "Can't please everyone." Huh. Good for her, and she tweeted like the outspoken celeb she has always tended to be. But that's all the more reason why her tweets will be missed!

Remember back when she went off on Disney for making light of eating disorders on the show Shake It Up? She seriously took the network to task, tweeting:

I find it really funny how a company can lose one of their actresses from the pressures of an EATING DISORDER and yet still make joke about that very disease..... #nice. What are we promoting here? #notfunnyATALL

Or how about when she tweeted girl power-ific advice -- which some suspect was inspired by possible ex Wilmer Valderrama -- "The smartest thing a woman could ever learn is to never need a man."

If we could take anything away from her tweets, it's that Demi is no wallflower, not gun-shy at all about expressing her opinions and what's in her heart. Maybe that's gotten her in trouble, but I'll bet it's helped some of her fans (mostly tween girls, of course) feel more comfortable with their own self-expression and being assertive. Maybe just on Twitter, but perhaps forthcoming tweets translate to being open and confident in other ways, too. And for that reason alone, here's hoping Demi returns from her "Twitter break" sooner rather than later.

How do you feel about Demi walking away from Twitter? Did you appreciate her tweets?
