Mark Zuckerberg Spends Christmas Vacation in Enemy Territory

mark zuckerbergHave you been wondering what Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and his girlfriend have been doing for the holidays? Of course you have, the dude's a celebrity in his own right; and who doesn't love celebrities? Well, turns out the couple has been vacationing in Vietnam since December 22. Nope, no chestnuts by an open fire for them. It's all kayaking, buffalo riding, and of course ... business.

See, I'm a little wary of Zuckerberg's motives for choosing to spend the holidays in Vietnam. Yes, it's a beautiful and exotic country, but the thing is -- Facebook is banned in Vietnam.

Right?

Fact is, despite the social network being blocked by the communist state, young people wind up bypassing censors and use the service anyway. Which probably makes Zuckerberg even less liked. So, my guess is ol' Zuck and his longtime girlfriend, Priscilla Chang, aren't just in Vietnam to sample the local cuisine and stay off the grid for a little R and R, they're there to gain allies. And that's great. I'm not a communist and think Facebook should totally be allowed in the country, but ... was this really necessary over Christmas?

Look, Mark and I are (clearly) two different people. He's worth a gagillion dollars, I'm worth, like, two. His idea of fun is working around the clock; mine is sleeping past nine. He-- you know what, I could go on and on, but I won't. You get the point. I guess what I'm getting at here is, although I totally would not want to spend my Christmas vacation working, I've gotta respect him for doing so. It's why he's so successful. Vacation is never probably just vacation for him. Surely, there's always some sort of business happening.

So, if this is how he chose to spend his holiday, whatever. To each their own. I, on the other hand, had a super fantastic time eating a record number of Christmas cookies. And, of course, sleeping past nine.

Are you a workaholic?
