Vanessa Bryant Becomes Latest Basketball Wife to Drop a Bad NBA Husband

Kobe BryantAlthough Kobe Bryant's marriage to Vanessa Bryant lasted throughout the tumultuous stage in his life when he was accused of rape (he said the sexual affair was consensual) back in 2003, it seems the latest allegations of infidelity were finally the last straw. Kobe Bryant's wife Vanessa has filed for divorce. Kobe apparently got caught after the wives of his teammates told Vanessa of his multiple affairs.

Another famous athlete caught cheating on his beautiful wife?? Another NBA player facing divorce this year?? (Sarcasm very much intended.) It really was only a matter of time before Vanessa left Kobe. The takeaway lesson from this divorce and countless others before theirs? It's simple. Don't marry a professional basketball player.

Here are five other infamous bad NBA husbands that prove pro ballers might not be as good in marriage as they are on the court.

Kim Kardashian & Kris Humphries: Of course, we had to mention THE DIVORCE of 2011. Kim may be known for getting famous for nothing and was partly to blame for jumping into the marriage too quickly, but Kris also didn't want to move for Kim, pretty much told her everyone will forget about her in the next few years (like we even knew who he was before he met Kim), wanted to party all the time, and basically just seemed like a big lump of man. What did she ever see in him? Good riddance!

Eva Longoria & Tony Parker: What is wrong with an NBA guy who thinks he can get away with cheating on Eva Longoria? The drop-dead gorgeous Desperate Housewife's marriage did last a tad longer than Kardashian's but failed due to the same reasons as Vanessa's: Eva discovered hundreds of text messages from another woman on Tony's phone. It really does seem like these guys just want to get caught.

Carmen Electra & Dennis Rodman: Carmen and Dennis were the Kim and Kris of their day. They tied the knot and everyone said -- these two are never gonna last. There were domestic disturbances, cops, and misdemeanors. Rodman struggled with alcoholism, was arrested for drunk driving, and was charged in early 2003 with domestic assault on his then-fiancee. Later in 2008, he was busted for domestic assault. I think it's safe to say the ladies should stay away from this one.

Joumana Kidd & Jason Kidd: In January 2001, Jason, who plays for the Dallas Mavericks, was arrested for assaulting his wife. He had to go to anger management and reportedly gave up alcohol. But then on January 9, 2007, he filed for divorce, saying there was "extreme cruelty" during their relationship, like jealousy, paranoia, and "false domestic abuse claims." However, Joumana filed a counter claim, saying he "broke her rib and damaged her hearing by smashing her head into the console of a car." He supposedly struck her with everything from a large rock to a cookie. How messed up does this marriage sound?

Shaunie O'Neal & Shaquille O'Neal: These two divorced over "irreconcilable differences." Throughout the separation, Shaunie was developing her reality TV show Basketball Wives. The success of the show while finalizing their divorce didn't come without drama. She said Shaq used their son to deliver death threats to her new boyfriend. What's wrong with these dudes?

Why do you think so many famous NBA players aren't as successful in their personal lives as they are on the court?
