Soldier's Wife & Daughter Get Thanksgiving Surprise at Vikings Game (VIDEO)

wife suprised by military husband at vikings gameSometimes the most exhilarating moment at a football game has absolutely nothing to do with the game. That was definitely the case yesterday in Minnesota when the Vikings took on the Raiders during Military Appreciation Day. See, Jaime Helget along with her 8-year-old daughter Maddison thought they'd be seeing a JumboTron greeting from hubby/dad Staff Sgt. Matt Helget, who has been serving in Kuwait. But during the third quarter of the game, as mom and daughter waited patiently on the field, Helget surprised them by appearing in person! The result was a majorly tear-jerky moment -- for not just the Helgets, but also for 50,000 fans in the stands.

Check out the news coverage, and I dare you not to feel tears prick up in your eyes!

Ahhh! So sweet, right? That moment of total shock, when Jaime wrapped her arms around Matt and their daughter's eyes lit up, was just incredible. I bet it's something they'll all remember for the rest of their lives. Of course, a surprise like this would mean something anytime of the year, but I do think it was extra special and heartwarming, being that it's almost Thanksgiving, and now this family will get to spend even more time together around the holidays. They even said that this will be the "best Thanksgiving they'll ever have." Awwww.

The NFL, Vikings organization, and Minnesota National Guard really deserve a pat on the back for joining forces to make this happen, huh? It's also so great that they make a point to honor our forces with a Military Appreciation Day. It is such a lovely gesture overall for our armed forces and their families. Good on them!

What do you think about this reunion?
